Mara Carter MSTAT
I first learned about AT in 2008 when working as an investment actuary.
However it wasn't until I fell pregnant and started having regular lessons that I really started to feel the benefits. I experienced two happy and healthy pregnancies and gentle homebirths, where I found the everyday application of the AT to be invaluable.
Wanting to explore the technique in a deeper way, I enrolled in the 3-year teacher training at the AT Studio, led by Karen Wentworth (an inspiring teacher in her 80s who is impressively fit and active and a testament to the ability of AT to preserve musculoskeletal health and more).
My approach to learning and teaching the AT is to endeavour to make it a living experiment by which observation and an inquiring mind are at play.
I am a member of STAT (Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique) and abide by a code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
